Stoned Streams: The Best Shows & Movies Streaming October 2023

It’s spooky season again! Grab a blanket and some buds, and check out what we’ve picked out for you in this October edition of Stoner Streams!

Castlevania: Nocturne | Netflix Media Center

Castlevania: Nocturne is an anime series based off of the iconic video game series set in 1792 during the French Revolution. A rebellion is born in an attempt to go against the aristocratic bourgeoisie, many of whom are vampires, while the character Richter continues the Belmont bloodline legacy of vampire hunting. The elites, if you will, and their Vampire Messiah promise to “eat the sun” while unleashing an army of night creatures to enslave humanity. If you like to binge animated shows and love a modern spin on nostalgic IP, then you should check out Castlevania: Nocturne on Netflix now.

Encounters | Netflix Media Center

The new docuseries Encounters premiered on Netflix on September 27th, and focuses on four cases of human contact with otherworldly beings. The series is told firsthand by the people who experienced these phenomena, using science to guide believers to answers during a time when the question of whether humans are alone in the universe feels particularly urgent. The series also features revelations from military whistleblowers of alien encounters, UFOs, and clandestine Pentagon programs, as well as coverage from major news corporations. The series goes beyond the science to highlight the profoundly human impact of these encounters on lives, families, and communities. If you think aliens are spooky, this is right for you.

The Amityville Curse - movie: watch streaming online

Yes, there is a new addition to the Amityville Horror franchise that was released just this year, and yes it has the same name as another entry in the exact same series, but that's neither here nor there. The Amityville Curse is available to stream in Canada on Crave now, and is once again a modern spin on a classic. The flick focuses on a group of young and sexy friends who purchase the infamous Amityville house, with the intentions of flipping the home, only to discover the iconic paranormal presence that has haunted so many before them. Now, this film is “light horror” — if that’s a term I didn’t invent just now — and is nothing spectacular, but is easy to watch and would serve well at a Halloween party for laughs.

John Wick: Chapter 4 | The John Wicki | Fandom

To switch things up from the scary or horror genre for a minute, John Wick: Chapter 4 is on Crave. I mean, that’s all that really needs to be said. It’s the latest entry in one of the biggest and most epic movies and film franchises in recent years. If you haven’t seen a John Wick movie yet, it’s basically just Keanu Reeves kicking people’s asses for two hours, with the fourth and seemingly final film in the series being the most insane of the lot. Why not binge all four this October and consider tapping into the John Wick spin-off series The Continental that’s available on Amazon Prime Video as well.

Make Me Scream (TV Special 2023) - IMDb

Make Me Scream is actually a Halloween-themed game show on Amazon Prime Video. To make things even more exciting and interesting, the contestants are all B and C-List celebrities, including the likes of Jaleel White who played Steve Urkel in Family Matters, and SoundCloud rapper Lil’ Xan among many others. The objective of the game is to conquer obstacle courses and challenges while trying not to scream. There’s jump scares and  spooky scenarios and it’s just so cheesy that you have to watch it. If you're busy handing out candy and have family or kids in the house this Halloween, consider throwing this on for some fun and scares.
