Raw Papers...WTF
Over the last few days you may have seen a bunch of information floating online about a lawsuit that RAW Papers just lost or maybe you didn't because you don't follow random cannabis news, BUT it's okay because we’re here to update you.
RAW Papers may just be the most popular brand of rolling papers of all time,
from being mentioned in music to being plastered on the internet RAW has done a great job at raising their brand awareness. They’ve stayed true to their values with their brand messaging seen on their platforms and packaging, using the taglines “unrefined” and the “world’s only organic" rolling papers, which have really helped define them as a top rolling paper in the market. But over the last few days, we've found out that RAW and everything about them is a SCAM. The Makers of RAW (HBI) have been found GUILTY by federal court after being sued by Republic Brands the makers of rolling papers like OCB (that's one way to take down your competitors).The jury has ordered HBI to stop selling, promotion, producing, and distributing RAW products
that say “unrefined” and the “world’s only organic” rolling papers. The two taglines they’ve built their products around are a scam, who knew stoners could be so deceiving? In addition to this, they also have to stop selling, promotion, producing, and distributing RAW products that say they're made in Spain, because they aren't - RAW was lying about it. We’re not sure where it is really grown, but why lie and choose Spain? It’s honestly kind of funny, at least choose some random country with a small population that no one has ever heard of - For example, Bouvet Island. They were also told to stop saying that they contribute funds from sales to the “RAW foundation” because it doesn't exist... at all. That one is honestly crazy, how did they get away with this for so long? And how the hell did OCB figure it out before anyone else? By the way, HBI makes Elements, Juicy Jays, and Skunk papers too. So who knows what's going on over there with those papers… maybe they'll be the next HBI brands to be targeted legally.To get into the detail of things, here's EVERYTHING that HBI is banned from making promotional statements on:
- That HBI and/or RAW operate(s) or contributes its funds or sales proceeds to a charitable entity or foundation of any kind referred to as the "RAW Foundation" or making reference to the "RAW Foundation" in text or images;
- That RAW Organic Hemp rolling papers are "unrefined;"
- That RAW Organic Hemp rolling papers are made with natural hemp gum, or that the adhesive used in RAW Organic Hemp rolling papers is made from or contains hemp;
- That RAW Organic Hemp rolling papers are, or ever were, the world's first or world's only organic (or organic hemp) rolling papers;
- That RAW Organic Hemp rolling paper booklets are made in Alcoy, Spain;
- That RAW Organic Hemp pre-rolled rolling-paper cones are made in Alcoy, Spain;
- That the bulk paper ("bobbins") used to make RAW Organic Hemp rolling paper products is made in Spain;
- That RAW Organic Hemp rolling papers are made in Alcoy Spain, the birthplace of rolling papers; and
- HBI shall not use on its packaging a "stamp" including the use of the word Alcoy or referring to Alcoy.
- That RAW Organic Hemp rolling papers are made using wind power or are powered by wind;
- That HBI uses or used the center of the hemp stalk for its RAW Organic Hemp rolling papers;
- That HBI or Joshua Kesselman invented rolling paper pre-rolled cones;
- That the OCB Organic Hemp papers are knock-offs, "RAWnabees", copies, or fake versions of RAW.
