PRE-ROLL FAQs

What are pre-rolls?

Pre-rolls are a ready-to-use format offering a convenient way for consumers to enjoy cannabis without the need to grind, roll, or prepare it themselves. Typically, pre-rolls consist of ground cannabis flower that is packed into rolling papers, often with a filter or crutch.

What are pre-rolls made of?

Premium pre-rolls are typically crafted from whole buds that are milled for the specific purpose of packing pre-rolls.

Meanwhile, some more budget-friendly pre-rolls may contain 'shake' or 'trim'. Shake consists of small pieces of cannabis flower that break off during handling, while trim includes the leftover leaves and small bits of flower from the harvesting process.

Infused pre-rolls will also contain cannabis concentrates like kief, hash, or distillate.

Are there different types of pre-rolls ?

Pre-rolls, or joints, can be hand-rolled or machine-rolled (like cigarettes) and are typically packaged in cases or doob tubes to prevent damage.

At Kindling Cannabis you'll find pre-rolls are available in various strains, including indica-dominant, sativa-dominant, hybrid, and high-CBD varieties.

They can be purchased individually in one-gram and half-gram sizes or in multi-packs of up to five. Under the Cannabis Act, pre-rolls cannot exceed one gram.

Why can't I find real blunts in Canada?

In Canada, you won't find blunt wraps made of cigar leaves or spliffs (tobacco and cannabis blends) because under the Cannabis Act, it is prohibited to sell or distribute any cannabis product that is mixed with tobacco.

This restriction is part of the broader regulation that bans the combination of cannabis with certain substances, including nicotine and caffeine.

The act aims to regulate the cannabis market to protect public health and ensure the safe use of cannabis products.

Can pre-rolls go bad?

If pre-rolls are stored correctly in an airtight container, they should retain full potency until opened. Once opened, the product may begin to degrade.
