The Best Funny Movies to Stream While High

I get it, there are a million streaming services, and even more new shows and movies being released basically every single day. Well, lucky for you all reading this, and assuming you all get baked, I’ve compiled the absolute best stoner movies to stream.

Grandma’s Boy (2006)

Grandma’s Boy is a staple in every stoner’s movie library. Every scene provides something that warrants an out-loud laugh, and the cast is absolutely stellar. Allen Covert, Nick Swardson, Jonah Hill, Linda Cardellini, Doris Roberts, and so many other great actors are in this flick. Personally, I’ve watched this movie over a hundred times, at least. A middle-aged video game tester and stoner named Alex gets evicted and is forced to move in with his wacky grandma and her even wackier roommates, and then a bunch of marijuana-induced hijinks ensue. One of the most quotable lines from the movie is around the end, when Alex rolls “the Frankenstein shit, the deer shit, the Green-Monster, the Bling, and the Bling-Bling” all into one joint. Such a monstrosity reminds me of Good Supply’s Monsters Golden Guy Infused Pre-Rolls.

How High (2001)

Starring two of Hip-Hop’s most iconic emcees, Method Man and Redman play Silas and Jamal, two stoners who smoke a magical strain of weed called Ivy. This herb helps them ace their college entry exams, and the duo wind-up in Harvard. I’ve always said that Hip-Hop and marijuana culture are half-sisters or cousins to say the least, and How High exemplifies that better than any movie in the genre. Since Ivy is an enchanted and fictional strain of plant, I suggest lighting-up one of Ghost DropsC.R.E.A.M. Cake Pre-Rolls if you want to try and mimic the effects.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is an iconic stoner flick, starring real life stoner icons Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. Cheech & Chong, Harold & Kumar, Jay & Silent Bob, these are all names synonymous with pothead bromance pictures, and I’m sure that the majority of people reading this article have already seen one of the many films featuring this particular duo. Basically, it’s about two weed dealers who travel from New Jersey to Hollywood in order to stop a movie being made about characters based on their likenesses. I’m not entirely sure where Strike Back was streaming prior to it popping up on Netflix randomly this summer, but I’m thanking the weed gods that it did!

Pineapple Express (2008)

Everyone’s seen this movie so it goes without explaining, but Pineapple Express stars stoner icons Seth Rogen and James Franco as Dale Denton and Saul Silver. Saul sells Dale some Pineapple Express (which is also sold on ShopKindling.ca by the way), Saul witnesses a murder and throws a roach out of his window, the rare Pineapple Express gets traced back to Dale and Saul, yada-yada, hilarity happens. This movie revolutionized how everyday people roll their joints and treat their dealers, and is one of the most popular stoner flicks ever made.

Half Baked (1998)

Half Baked is a cult classic that bombed at the box office but has lived on in stoner infamy ever since. This film is prerequisite viewing for tokers and was the catalyst to Chappelle’s Show, one of the greatest sketch-comedy shows of all time. Dave Chappelle, Jim Breuer, Guillermo Diaz, and Harland Williams play Thurgood, Brian, Scarface, and Kenny respectively. Kenny accidentally feeds a police horse munchies, which kills the steed, resulting in Kenny being put in jail. Thurgood and his friends start dealing weed, calling their illegal startup “Mr. Nice Guy”. Thurgood eventually falls in love and ditches his doobies for good, and since food caused all these shenanigans, I recommend chomping down a Be My Valentine Double Stuffed Chocolate Cookie by Indiva Life. Up In Smoke (1978)

For the last entry on this list, I’m taking it all the way back to where it all began. Cheech & Chong’s Up In Smoke is the quintessential stoner movie starring the iconic comedy duo themselves, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong. If you’ve made it this far into this blog, you’ve unquestionably seen Up In Smoke, and if you haven’t, stop reading this and go do that now. In the movie, Cheech plays Pedro De Pacas and Chong plays Anthony Stoner, the two head off on a road trip, and the rest is history. Infamously, one of “Chong’s Choices”, or favorite strains, is Blue Dream. I suggest roasting a Spinach Blue Dream Pre-Roll and tapping into this throwback. Up in Smoke (1978) - IMDb
