$6.1 MILLION IN ILLEGAL CANNABIS SEIZED IN BLENHEIM

Chatham-Kent police seized approximately $6.1 million of cannabis during a search on Story Street in Blenheim, Ontario. The department's intelligence section, along with the canine unit, seized the illegal cannabis in varying stages of growth as part of an investigation. A 40-year-old Blenheim man and a 41-year-old Toronto man were arrested and charged with cultivating illegal cannabis contrary to the Cannabis Act. Both men were taken to police headquarters in Chatham and later released with conditions and an Oct. 12 court date. Large-scale seizures of illegal cannabis are not new for Chatham-Kent's police service. Between September 2020 and January 2021, more than 25,000 illegal cannabis plants were seized as police shut down four major illegal grow operations. The only question I want an answer to is what happens to all of the marijuana that was seized?
